Ralph Dean Brooks, age 78
Of Newton, IL passed away at 10:25 PM – Friday, January 13, 2012 at the St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM – Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL with Mark Wilkinson officiating the service. Burial will be in the Brooks Cemetery in Newton, IL with full military rites by the Jasper Post #20 American Legion. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the funeral home. In loving memory of Ralph, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Support Fund. Ralph Dean Brooks was born on July 24, 1933 in Jasper County, IL the son of Victor and Beulah (Cox) Brooks.
Ralph was a 1953 graduate of Newton Community High School where he played football and ran track.
He served in the United States Army. He worked at United Technologies Automotive and as a night watchman at Norris Electric.
Ralph enjoyed the outdoors, mushroom hunting and gardening.

1 Son- Dennis (Charla) Brooks of Newton, IL
8 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren
1 Brother- Larry (Connie) Brooks of Newton, IL
2 Sisters- Sharon (Don) Gerber of Champaign, IL and Wanda Brackett of Tuscon, AZ
2 Sisters in-Law - Clarrean Brooks of Newton, IL and Maxine Brooks of Flora, IL
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers- Herbert, Richard, Kenneth and Harold; two sisters- Betty Brooks and Patricia Hippler.
