Randall Dean "Randy" Shamhart, age 60, of Newton, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly at 3:42 PM – Monday, January 31, 2022, at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Randy's life will be held at 10:00 AM – Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the West End Reception and Event Venue, 202 Museum Drive, Newton, Illinois . Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery west of Latona, Illinois. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 PM – Monday, February 7, 2022, at West End Reception and Event Venue, 202 Museum Drive, Newton, Illinois . In loving memory of Randy, memorials may be made to the Newton Firefighter Association- Equipment fund. Arrangements are in the care of Meyer Funeral Home, Newton, Illinois. Randall Dean, better known as "Randy" was born on August 30, 1961, in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Lester Don and Wanda Lee (Cummins) Shamhart. He was a graduate of Newton Community High School, Class of 1979.
Randy married Marjorie Runyon and to this union two children were born, Cory and Kearstin. He married best friend of 23 years, Gayle Glumac on January 8, 2020.
Randy had worked for Huddleston Electric for 15 years, and currently was a fuel salesman for Wabash Valley FS. Randy became a volunteer fireman for the Wade Fire Department, in 2001. His eagerness to help others made him a valuable asset to our community and his fellow firefighters.
Randy loved the outdoors and all the opportunities it offered for enjoyment. He spent hours metal detecting, arrowhead hunting, bee keeping, watching wildlife and spending time at his farm. He enjoyed watching stock car races and was an avid Dodge truck fan. His greatest being a grandpa, his Sunday morning breakfast with Kamdyn was the highlight of his week.
Randy attended the Free Methodist Church in Newton, Illinois.
Randy will be missed by all who knew him.

Children - Cory wife Mallory Shamhart of Newton, Illinois and Kearstin husband Ryan Mefford of Charleston, Illinois
Grandchildren - Kamdyn Mefford and baby Shamhart due in May 2022
Brothers - Bruce "Doodle" Shamhart of Wheeler, Illinois; Brad wife Josie Shamhart of Wheeler, Illinois and Roger wife Julie Shamhart of Newton, Illinois
Mother-in-law- Karen Crivokapich of Monee, Illinois
Father-in-law- Richard Glumac of Hammond, Indiana
Sister-in-law – Christine and husband Joe Joyce of Monee, Illinois
Randy was preceded in death by his parents.
