Rebecca Jane “Becky” Price, age 82

Rebecca Jane “Becky” Price, age 82, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 1:38 AM – Thursday, July 16, 2026, Ridgeview in Oblong, Illinois.

A service celebrating Becky’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Kevin Colclasure officiating. The burial will be in the Mound Cemetery northeast of Willow Hill, Illinois. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 AM, until service time. Becky was born on February 2, 1944, in Martinsville, Illinois, the daughter of Victor and Catherine (Young) Roberts. She graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1962.

Becky was united in marriage to James C. “Jimmy Joe” Price on September 21, 1963, and he preceded her in death on November 11, 2012.

Becky started working at an early age at her family’s business, the V&C Grocery Store in Willow Hill. Later she worked at Newton Broom Factory and Newton Package Strore. And for 19 years, Becky was one of the friendly cashiers at the Newton IGA and she retired at the age of 80 ½ years old.

Becky is survived by:

Daughters – Misty (Bob) Kurtz of Newton, Illinois and Heidi (Dan) Fitts of Oblong, Illinois

Grandchildren – Aaron (Kara) Kurtz, Kashtyn (Tyler) Shull, Kaley (Kenny) Price and Brock Fitts

Great Grandchildren – Noah Kurtz, Oliver Shull, Micah Kurtz, Case Shull and Bruce Price

Sisters – Kathy Collins and Debbie Higginbotham

Special Friends – Janet Henderson, Deb Millman and Pat Hankins

Beloved Dog – Tucker

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Wanda Sue Green, Betty McKee and Jerold Roberts.
