Rex Allen Swinson, Sr. age 91, of Noble passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Richland Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 3, 2015 from 5-7 PM in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral service will follow at 7 PM. Cremation rites will be accorded. Don Thrasher will be officiating. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery in Noble at a later date.

Rex was born on January 4, 1924, in Olney, the son of Stephen "Lester" and Grace (Schonert) Swinson. He later married Martha L. (Alvord) Swinson on June 3, 1943 in St. Petersburg, Florida. She survives.

He was a Corporal in the United States Air Force during WW2 and received the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. He worked as a farmer for many years. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed farming, mowing grass, pitching horseshoes and bowling. He enjoyed listening to blue grass music and would attend the different monthly music events held in Noble and Flora. He enjoyed the annual 4th of July family gatherings and the fall family reunions. He was a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and also watched other sports like basketball on television. He enjoyed his annual trips to Florida and fishing while he was there. He also enjoyed watching humming birds and deer while at home. He lived in Decker Township his whole life. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Rex is survived by his wife Martha Swinson, of Noble; 3 sons, Rex A. Swinson, Jr, and wife Doris of Noble, Stephen "Steve" H. Swinson, and wife Barb of Noble, and Paul L. Swinson, and wife Diana of Greenup; daughter Carolyn S. Swinson, and significant other Ken Lockwood Jr. of Olney; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded by his parents Lester and Grace Swinson, grandson Brian Lowe, great-grandson Joshua Patrick Runyon, 3 sisters Thelma, Mildred and Josephine, 2 brothers Kenneth and Orval and infant brother Eugene.
