Rheta A. Tarr, age 80

Rheta A. Tarr, of Olney, Illinois, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 21, 2016, at 11:29 PM at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM – Monday, August 29, 2016 at the

Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois, with Chris Jennette officiating.

Burial will be in the Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler, Illinois.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 28, 2016, from 5:00 -7:00P.M.

In loving memory of Rheta, donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Academy.

Rheta was born December 10, 1935, in Jasper County, Illinois, the daughter of Ezra and Elsie (Handley) Hamilton. She married Doyal Gordon Tarr on Nov. 19, 1952, and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2006.

Rheta and Doyal owned and operated grocery stores in Noble, Dieterich and Vincennes, Indiana as well as a laundromat in Dieterich for many years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Olney, Illinois.  Rheta was a loving and caring person to many and was loved by all.  She enjoyed spending time with family especially her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Rheta will be missed by many.

Her 5 children: Doiletta "Dot" Ann Collins of Noble, IL; Pamela Jo (Thomas) Westjohn of Dieterich, IL; Elsie Fern (Roger) Cooley of Charleston, IL; Robin Rae (Philip) Kimpling of Olney, IL and Rodney Gordon (Belinda) Tarr of Sumner, IL.

Siblings- George (Fern) Hamilton of Englewood, CO and John Richard Hamilton of Olney, IL.

Brother-in-law- Ed Finn of Hidalgo, IL

16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several loved nieces and nephews also survive.

Special caregiver and Granddaughter- Rheta Collins

Rheta was preceded in death by her parents, husband Doyal, sister Minnie Bell Finn, brothers James Hamilton and his wife Dixe and infant brother Billy Gene Hamilton, sister-in-law Patricia Ann Hamilton and 2 son-in-laws Ronald James Collins and Carl Douglas Billberry.
