March 24, 1944 – January 28, 2021

Richard Woodrow Mitchell age 76, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 8:15 AM – Thursday, January 28, 2021, went home to be with his Lord.

Funeral Service for Richard will be held at 1:00 PM - Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Newton, Illinois with Stephen Willis officiating.  Visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00 PM - Saturday, January 30, 2021 from at the First Baptist Church in Newton, Illinois. Burial will be in the Seifers-Wilson Cemetery in Newton, Illinois.

Those attending the visitation and service are reminded to observe customarily accepted social distancing guidelines.  The wearing of a face mask or covering is encouraged.

Richard Woodrow Mitchell was born on March 24, 1944 in Effingham, Illinois the son of Woodrow and Mary (Burris) Mitchell.  He married Margaret (Seifers) Quick on March 29, 1986 at the Free Methodist Church in Newton, Illinois and she survives.

Richard worked for over 32 years as an underwriter for Country Companies Insurance.

Richard enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting.  He loved to listen to and sing gospel and country music.

He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Newton, Illinois.

Richard is survived by:

Wife of 34 years Margaret Mitchell of Newton, Illinois

Children- Shawn (Connie) Mitchell of Taylorville, Illinois; Michelle Renee (Brett) Witzig of Jackson, Michigan; Larry (Gwen) Quick of Newton, Illinois; Lawrence (Connie) Quick of Robinson, Illinois

8 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren with one on the way.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Woodrow & Mary, son Randy Quick, grandson Tanner James Mitchell and a brother Steve Mitchell.
