Obituary
of Newton, Illinois passed away at 9:52 AM - Saturday, December 12, 2015, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM – Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois with Rick Britton officiating. Burial will be in the Hunt Cemetery in Yale, Illinois. Visitation will be held 2 hours before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for expenses.
Richard was born on March 31, 1958, in Charleston, Illinois, the son of Jack and Keitha (Cummins) Shaffer.
Richard graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1977. He was a floor installer for many years.
Richard enjoyed fishing, camping, mushroom hunting, and playing pool on a local league. He was an avid Fan of the Chicago Cub and Chicago Bears.
Richard is survived by: Daughter – Jessica (Aaron) Cleveland of Olney, Illinois Fiancé – Connie Walton of Newton, Illinois Grandchildren – Addison Cleveland, Ryden Cleveland and Hannah Cleveland all of Olney, Illinois
Brothers and Sister – Ted (Susie) Shaffer, Sr. of Newton, Illinois; Valena (Munch) Patridge of Newton, Illinois; Ed Shaffer of Newton, Illinois; Larry (Casey) Shaffer of Newton, Illinois and Donnie (Karen) Shaffer of Newton, Illinois.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
