Rita Faye Tarpley, age 77, of Calhoun, passed away at 1:35 PM on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.

Funeral service will be at 1 PM on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home in Olney. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery in rural Richland County. Pastor Todd Bettis will be officiating.

Rita was born on October 4, 1941 in Vanoss, Oklahoma, the daughter of Bernard and Thelma (Honsinger) Lehman. She later married Gary Tarpley on November 28, 2015 in Richland County. He survives.

She was a seamstress. She was a member of the Olney VFW. She enjoyed being outside gardening and fishing. She also enjoyed bowling. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

Rita is survived by her husband Gary Tarpley of Calhoun; daughter Jan Burroughs (Les) of Salem; sister Zelma McCraw (Glen) of Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren Ross, Heather, Tyler, Sheree, Lynette, Tammi and Jimmy; several great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren Braxton, Phoenix, Aiden and Cameron; and special friend Bonnie Bricker.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Thelma Lehman, brother Robert Honsinger and granddaughter Shannon Cessna.

Memorials can be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital in memory of Rita Faye Tarpley.
