Robert Wayne Carroll, age 76

Robert Wayne Carroll, age 76, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 5:30 PM - Monday, June 29, 2026, at his home.

Private family services will be held with burial in the Wilson-Seifers Cemetery northwest of Newton, Illinois. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.

Robert was born on March 23, 1950, in Newton, Illinois, the son of William Joseph and Martha (Pittman) Carroll. He graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1968.

Robert worked at Fedder’s in Effingham for many years and was director of maintenance. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening.

Robert served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from October 10, 1969, until his honorable discharge on September 26, 1973.

Sons – Joseph (Connie) Carroll of McLean, Illinois and Daniel Carroll of Newton, Illinois

Grandchildren – Payton Carroll, Andrew Carroll and Tyler Carroll

Siblings – Margaret Mitchell of Newton, Illinois; Nellie Wilson of Newton, Illinois and Larry (Mary Lynn) Carroll of Newton, Illinois

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, son Matthew Carroll and siblings Betty Roberts, Chester Seifers, Carl Seifers, Neil Seifers, June Conrad, Alex Seifers and Ada Stroup.
