Robert Roger Carter, age 82

of Hutsonville, Illinois passed away at 3:55 PM – Sunday, October 4, 2015 at
VA Illiana Health Care System Danville, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Robert's life will be celebrated at 11:00 AM – Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Meyer Funeral Home (formerly Bishop Funeral Home) in Greenup, Illinois with Pastor Brooke Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Greenup Cemetery in Greenup, Illinois with full military rites by the Cumberland County Veterans Association. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service. Robert was born on April 15, 1933 in Greenup, Illinois the son of Otto Kenneth and Lena Jane (Mead) Carter.
Robert served his country in the United States Army as a PFC serving from April 24, 1953 until his honorable discharge on April 8, 1955. He served in Germany as an artillery mechanic. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.
Robert was a hardworking man during his working days. He liked to hunt squirrels and mushrooms and go swimming in the Embarras River.
Robert is survived by his siblings; Dean Carter of Carmi, Illinois; Tom Carter of Casey, Illinois; Betty Sowers of Effingham, Illinois and Margaret Niccum of Greenup, Illinois.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers John Carter, Kenneth Carter and Jack Carter.
