Robert Dale Holland Sr., age 78, of Olney, passed away at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at his residence in Olney.

Visitation will be from 10-11 AM on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM. Burial will be at Crest Haven Memorial Park.

Robert was born on February 17, 1939 in McLeansboro, Illinois, the son of John Michael and Marjorie May (Russell) Holland. He later married Mary Davis on January 15, 1994 in Olney. She survives.

He worked in the oil fields in Illinois and Pennsylvania. He worked as a custodian at the Olney VFW until he retired at the age of 63. He loved going on fishing trips, fixing things, doing yard work, and was a handy man. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Robert is survived by his wife Mary Holland of Olney; 9 children, Robert Dale Holland Jr. of Carmi, Billy Holland (Anna) of Georgia, Wally Miller of Albion, Mike Holland of Olney, Virginia Ann of Carmi, Lisa Holland of Olney, Laraine Jones (Shawn) of Olney, Adrianne Dehlinger (David) of Olney and Conrad Horath (Mabel) of Rinard; 3 brothers Mike Holland (Donna) Monroe City, Indiana and Gene Holland (Vickie) of Carmi and Roy Holland of Wayne City; sister Betty Leathers (Robert) of Danville; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Marjorie Holland, 2 daughters and 2 brothers.
