Robert Dougherty Holm, age 81, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Medicana Nursing & Rehab in Lake Worth, Florida.
Please join us in celebrating Bob's life on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM - 12:00 PM (Noon) with a service to follow, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Chapel Cemetery near Falmouth, Illinois. Robert "Bob" was born on May 31, 1941, in Falmouth, Illinois, the son of James Robert & Ethel Fae (Dougherty) Holm. He attended Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Illinois, and graduated in 1959. In 1963, he was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed in Bellmore, New York, where soon after, he met and married Carol Ann Deitenbach. In 1970, his only Son, Robert Dougherty Holm II was born.
Bob retired with 30 years of service from the Long Island Lighting Company (LILCO)/National Grid. He moved to Boynton Beach, Florida, after retiring. He then worked for the Palm Beach Water Authority for 10 years and volunteered his time at the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
Bob will be loved and remembered by so many, especially by his son, Robert (Maria) of Melville, New York; siblings Mary Joan (Rex) Ammerman of Bloomington, Illinois; and John (Christine) Holm of Morton, Illinois. He is also survived by his loving partner, Roberta Selick of Boynton Beach, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents James Robert & Ethel Fae (Dougherty) Holm, his wife, Carol Ann (Deitenbach) Holm and his sister, Roberta Jane (Holm) Bruner and brother-in-law Charles E. Bruner, Sr.
