Robert Edgar Lee Simmons, age 75

November 8, 1945 – January 24, 2021

Robert Edgar Lee Simmons age 75, of Newton, Illinois, and formerly of Washington, Indiana, passed away at 8:05 AM – Sunday, January 24, 2021, at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.

Robert was born on November 8, 1945, in Daviess County, Indiana, the son of Bernard "Preach" and Eldena (Reed) Simmons.  He married Susan Holsapple on February 14, 1989 and she survives.

Robert was a longtime farmer.  He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Newton, Illinois.

Robert enjoyed dancing and doing sudoku puzzles.

Children – Michele (Jim) Brown of Greensburg, Pennsylvania

Adam (Tracey) Simmons of Washington, Indiana

Dawn (Dan) Fields of Washington, Indiana

Grandchildren – Payton Simmons, Evan Simmons, Rowan Simmons, Andrew Brown, Kaitlin (Cole) Butler, Cameron Craney, Blake Craney and Anastasia Fields

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, son Allen Simmons and a brother Skippy Simmons.
