Robert F. Meers of 6943 N. St. Marie Road, Olney, Illinois passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Richland Memorial Hospital.

Bob was born June 11, 1929 to Raymond C. and Martha Ellen (Robins) Meers in Richland County, Illinois.

He was married on August 3, 1952 to Helen Elizabeth Millsap of Newton, Illinois at the St. Paul Lutheran Church near Dundas, Illinois by Pastor Loy  C. Coopperider.

Father of three sons David (Betty) Meers, Dundas, Illinois, Alan (Joyce) Meers of Iuka, Illinois and Sam (Julie Nelson) Meers of Kansas City, Missouri

He is survived  by his wife, sons, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren: John and Heather Meers of Dundas, Illinois; Elizabeth (Troy) Longcor of Humboldt, Illinois; Christy, Gavin and Tian Meers of Iuka, Illinois; Katherine Meers of Boston, Massachusetts; Emma and Payton Longcor of Humbolt, Illinois; and Taylor West. He is also also survived by brother Norman (Carol) Meers of Sunset City, Florida.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Martin L. Meers, Villa Park, Illinois; daughter-in-law Rhonda J. Meers and grandson Michael J. Meers of Kansas City, Missouri.

Bob farmed in Richland and Jasper counties his entire life, retiring from farming in 1991. He also worked for Schrey Bros. Construction of  Olney, Illinois. Later, he worked for the Dollar General Store and Alco store of Newton, Illinois where he retired in 1999.

Bob was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Dundas and Trinity Lutheran Church of Olney, Illinois. He was also a member of the Dundas Ruritan Club for many years.
