Robert Lee Young, age 82 of Olney, went to be with the Lord, at 10:03 PM on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.

Funeral service will be at 1 PM on Wednesday, August 15 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home in Olney. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home. Burial will be at Crest Haven Memorial Park in Claremont. Pastor Mike Baker will be officiating.

Robert was born on June 3, 1936 in rural Edwards County, the son of Guy and Florence Louise (Dorsam) Young. He later married Marcella Jean Baker on December 24, 1956 in rural Sumner. She survives.

Robert worked as a farmer for most of his life. He attended Antioch Christian Church in rural Richland County. He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. He never knew a stranger and had a great sense of humor, but most of all he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him.

Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marcella Young; 3 children, Janice Johnstone (Doug) of Claremont, Gary Young (Cristy) of Olney, and Dan Young (Cindy) of Sumner; 10 grandchildren, Jillian Moore (Bryan), Jennifer Kerr (Josh), Joey Young, Jessica Guzman (Adrian), Justin Young (Kate), Jodi Holdrieth (Justin), Joshua Young (Jordan), Robert Young (Morgan), Jason Johnstone, and Matthew Young (Ashton); and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Guy and Florence Young.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Antioch Christian Church in memory of Robert Lee Young.
