Rose Dalene (Cornwell) Lester, age 72, of Wheeler, Illinois, passed away at 6:15 PM - Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Heartland Senior Living in Neoga, Illinois.

A service celebrating Dalene’s, will be held at 1:00 PM – Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Unlimited Glory Assembly, 13501 North North Street, Wheeler, Illinois, Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois. Rose Dalene was born on September 3, 1953, in Tuscola, Illinois, the daughter of Dale Eugene and Leslie Rosina (Lester) Cornwell. She married Eric John Lester on October 12, 1976, and he preceded her in death on October 3, 2004.

Dalene served her country in the United States Army from May 5, 1974, until her honorable discharge on May 13, 1977.

Dalene had worked at World Color and Menards as security guard. She was a member of the Unlimited Glory Assembly. Playing cards, BINGO and shooting pool were some of her favorite pasttimes.

Dalene is survived by:

Children – John (Nicole) Lester, Joshua Lester, Jakoda (April) Lester and Jakya Lester (Chloe Daniels) all of Wheeler, Illinois

Grandchildren – Darienne Lester, Samuel Lester, Eric Lester, Emily Lester, Lillian Lester, Regina Lester, Rebekah Lester and Thomas Lester

Brother – George Cornwell of Newton, Illinois

Sisters – Kathy (Robert) Mallernee of Hutsonville, Illinois; Ruby (Bobby) Goode of Wheeler, Illinois; Loretta (Dale) Tolliver of Claremont, Illinois; and Jeannie Sparks of Effingham, Illinois

Dalene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Jimmy Lester, and siblings, Shirley Harris, Dennis Cornwell, Donald Wayne Cornwell, Helen Marie Cornwell, Lori Ponds, Debbie Cornwell, and Elaine Cornwell.
