Rosella M. (Dhom) Hemrich, age 83

April 17, 1938 - December 30, 2021

Rosella M. (Dhom) Hemrich, age 83, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 10:15 AM – Thursday, December 30, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM - Monday, January 3, 2022, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois, with Fr. Dean Probst celebrating mass.  Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Newton, Illinois.  Visitation will be held 9:30 - 11:30 AM at the church.  In loving memory of Rosella, memorials may be made to St. Thomas Catholic School.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.  The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com .

Rosella was born on April 17, 1938, in rural Newton, Illinois, the daughter of Alexander and Theresa (Eckl) Dhom.  She married Gerald Joseph Hemrich on May 9, 1959, at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois.
Rosella graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1956.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family.  She enjoyed sewing, reading gardening and spending time with her family.
Rosella was a lifelong member of St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton.

Rosella is survived by:
Children – Connie (Dennis) Griffith of Ozark, Missouri; Phyllis (Fred) Neu of Effingham, Illinois; Roger (Sherrie) Hemrich of Ste. Marie, Illinois; Bill (Amy) Hemrich of Sullivan, Illinois; Randy (Linda) Hemrich of Newton, Illinois; Brad Hemrich (fiancé Deanna Foster) of Grantsville, Georgia; Nick (Sarah) Hemrich of Newton, Illinois; Teresa (Bruce) Ochs of Newton, Illinois and Tracy (Scott) Blackwell of Effingham, Illinois.

Brother - Andrew "Duke" Dhom of Newton, Illinois

Sisters-in-law - Matilda Hemrich of Newton, Illinois and Linda Dhom of Newton, Illinois

Brother-in-law - Ben Kessler of Quincy, Illinois
24 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren with 5 on the way

Rosella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Martha Kessler and Marilyn Zumbahlen and brother Ted Dhom.
