Roy Allen Blackford, age 89 of Olney, passed away surrounded by his family, at 11:10 AM on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Sunday, May 20, 2018 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 1 PM on Monday, May 21, 2018 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home. Burial will be at Crest Haven Memorial Park in Claremont. Pastor Todd Bettis will be officiating.

Roy was born on November 21, 1928, in Richland County, the son of Clyde and Ruth (Monts) Blackford. He later married Glenora Holmes on September 18, 1975 in Olney. She survives.

He worked as a pipe fitter for many years and was a member of the Local #157. He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Olney. He enjoyed woodworking and going camping. He and his wife Glenora also enjoyed taking their handmade woodcrafts to craft shows around the area. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Roy is survived by his wife Glenora Blackford of Olney; 5 sons Terry Blackford (Linda) of Sapulpa, OK, Ben Blackford (Terrie) of Newburgh, IN, Randy Blackford (Ann) of Olney, Dave Blackford (Darla) of Greenville, IL, Scott Blackford (Sue) of Monroe, LA; daughter Sherry Snyder (Richard) of Calhoun; 3 brothers Wayne Blackford (Deloris) of Olney, Don Blackford (Jean) of Olney and Larry Blackford (Pat) of Olney; sister-in-law Betty Blackford of Olney; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Ruth Blackford, 2 sisters, Alberta Mowrer and Mary Wells, brother Jim Blackford and 2 grandchildren, Alina and Kyle Blackford.
