Obituary

Russell H. Wallace, age 86, of Charleston, Illinois, and formerly of Montrose, Illinois, passed away at 3:05 PM - Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at

Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Illinois.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Meyer Funeral Home- Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois.  The family requests St. Louis Cardinal or casual attire for those attending visitation.

A private family service, due to attendance limitation, will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2020, at the Woodbury United Methodist Church in Woodbury, Illinois.  The public is welcome to join the family for burial with full military rites at approximately 3:15 P.M at the Island Creek Cemetery in rural Montrose, Illinois.

In loving memory of Russell, memorials may be made to Woodbury United Methodist Church.

Russell was born on November 2, 1933, in Grove Township in rural Jasper County, Illinois, the son of Lummis Earl and Corinthia Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Diel) Wallace.  He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.  Russell married Loretta Wisner on January 20, 1957, at the Toledo Christian Church in Toledo, Illinois, and she survives.

Russell was a faithful member of the Woodbury United Methodist Church, where he served as song leader for many years.  Russell loved his family, the Lord, and sharing the gospel.  He worked his whole life in the lumber business until his retirement, making many friends along the way.  He enjoyed farming, woodworking and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan.

Russell is survived by:

Wife of 63 years - Loretta of Charleston, Illinois

4 Sons and 12 Grandchildren –

Stanley and Linda of Newton, Illinois, and their children - Allison (John) Ferguson, Amanda (Gary) Bowker, Kaitlin (John Logan) Zink, and Kimberlin (Jordan) Michels

Michael and Kim of Greenup, Illinois, and their children - Nicole (Ryan) Guldenstein, Ashley Dorworth and Brittany (Tyler) Zimmer

James and Doneda of Trilla, Illinois, and their children - Matthew (Heather) Wallace, Heather (Kenny) Haggard, and Justin (Tiffany) Wallace

Mark and Toni of Evansville, Indiana, and their children - Mackenzie Wallace and Kaleigh Wallace

2 Sisters - Vera Hetzer of Newton, Illinois, and Luella Wells of Effingham, Illinois

18 Great Grandchildren with another due to arrive in September.

Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters - Kathryn, Virginia, Ruby, Norma, Ruth, and brother Donald.
