Mrs. Ruth Virginia Murphy, age 92
of Ste. Marie, IL passed away at 5:25 AM – Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Newton Rest Haven in Newton, IL.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM – Tuesday, January 10, 2011 at the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, IL with Fr. Al Kemme celebrating mass. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Ste. Marie, IL. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the mass at the church. In loving memory of Ruth, memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Church. Arrangements are under the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.blakefh.com.Ruth was born on October 29, 1919 in Ragsdale, IN the daughter of Harry Lee and Jane C. (Brown) Loving. She married Richard "Pete" Murphy on September 6, 1938 and he preceded her in death on April 7, 1995.
Ruth attended St. Mary of Woods College and worked in the transit department of the bank. She also bought and sold real estate while they lived in Indianapolis. During WWII Ruth was a "Rosie the Riveter" working in a defense plant.Ruth is a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and former members of the ladies auxiliary of the Olney Moose and Olney Eagles.Ruth is survived by:
Son – Robert (Jeanette) Murphy of Granger, IN
Sister – Mary E. Logan of Newton, IL
4 Grandchildren 9 Great Grandchildren
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother George Loving and a sister Louise Stauss.
