Obituary

Sam Edward Parr, age 67

of rural Newton, Illinois passed away at 9:45 PM – Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM – Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Burial will be in the Honey Cemetery in Bogota, Illinois. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 PM – Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the funeral home.

Sam was born on March 2, 1948 in Effingham, Illinois the son of Pearl "Ed" Edward and Fern Amanda "Peg" (Erwin) Parr. Sam was a 1966 graduate from Newton Community High School. He married Margaret A. "Marge" Fisher on February 20, 1971 at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois. He worked alongside his father at Parr's Feed Mill in Newton, Illinois until its closing in 1984. Thereafter he was employed by the Print Shop, Fedder's, Petty's, Quecour and most recently worked at Evapco in Greenup, Illinois. Sam had several hobbies he enjoyed such as restoring car and farm equipment as well as drag racing. He was a lifelong farmer and very proud of his Angus cattle. He loved being in nature gardening, bee keeping, fishing or hunting, he proudly taught and shared this love with his family. Despite raising Cardinal and Cub fans and he was an avid Baltimore Oriole Fan. Sam's greatest joy was his family and spending time with his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Wife of 44 years- Marge Parr of Newton, Illinois
Mother- Peg Parr of Newton, Illinois
6 Children- Chris (Stacey) Parr of Hidalgo, Illinois; Mike (Angela) Parr of Effingham, Illinois; Becky (Patrick) Althoff of Effingham, Illinois; Ed (Tracy) Parr of Newton, Illinois; Katie (Aaron) Helm of Hidalgo, Illinois and Jesse (Ted Schafer, Jr.) Parr of Newton, Illinois.
18 Grandchildren- Tanner, Kennedy, Jacey, Chad, Savannah, Madalyn, Samuel, Ross, Evan, Mitchell, Stormy, Tristan, Oscar, Simon, Sutton, Hartley, Tiffany and Nichole.
3 Great Grandchildren- Gracie, Nevaeh and Annabell.
Sister- Dee (Randy) Lingafelter of Newton, Illinois
Mother-in-law - Lalia (Hippler) Fisher Duff of Massillon, Ohio
Sister-in-laws & Brother-in-laws - Joe (Karla) Fisher; Dolly (Dana) Wiley and Mary Zupp all of Massillon, Ohio; Verna (Gary) Bergbower of Newton, Illinois; Bob Fisher of Waianae, Hawaii; Tom Fisher (Cole Young) of Ocean Grove, New Jersey.
Several Nieces and Nephews also survive
His beloved Cocker Spaniels- Buffy & Bentley
Sam was preceded in death by his father, infant daughter Marci Sam Parr, grandparents Pearl Edward & Jessie (Snyder) Parr, Pearl Otis & Cleda X. (Keever) Erwin and Father-in-law Vern Fisher.
