Mrs. Thelma Alene Freeland, age 72
formerly of Newton, IL passed away at 7:15 AM - Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM – Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL. Burial will be in the Bellair Cemetery. Visitation will be held for 1 hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the NF Foundation.
Thelma was born on June 10, 1939 in Yale, IL the daughter of Peter Franklin and Alice (Adkins) Fouty. She married Eugene Freeland on June 29, 1957 and he preceded her in death on March 2, 2010.
Thelma was a home maker and a CNA at Newton Rest Haven for several years. She was a former member of the Free Methodist Church in Newton and the First Christian Church in Effingham, IL.
Thelma is survived by:
Daughter - Ruth Ann (husband Terry) Trueblood of Effingham, IL
Son - David Eugene (Marie) Freeland of Effingham, IL
Grandchildren - James Robert Trueblood and LeAnn Marie Trueblood both of Effingham, IL
Brother – Fred (Lora) Fouty of Newton, IL
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Verna Elder.
