Theresa Marie Ochs, age 82

Theresa Marie Ochs, age 82, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 2:40 AM - Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM – Monday, December 11, 2017, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois.  Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Ste. Marie, Illinois.  Visitation will be held 3:00 – 5:00 PM – Sunday, December 10, 2017, at the church and ½ hour before mass.  In loving memory of Theresa, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church or St. Jude's.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.

Theresa was born on September 23, 1935, in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of Ambrose and Birgetta (Spitz) Petitjean.  She married John A. Ochs on April 9, 1958, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on December 16, 2011.

Theresa was a homemaker and loving mother.  She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois, Mary Martha Altar Society, Jasper County Home Extension and the Ste. Marie American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Theresa enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Theresa is survived by:

Children – Bruce (Nancy) Ochs of Ste. Marie, Illinois; David (Norma) Ochs of Ste. Marie, Illinois; Karleen (Tony) Prosser of Olney, Illinois and Kristie (Mike) Abba of Carterville, Illinois.

Grandchildren – Jacob (Naomi) Ochs, Shawnee Woods (Jeremy Geltz), Lindsey (Todd) Cooper, Aaron (Tiffany) Ochs, Joshua Ochs, Adam Ochs and Nathan Abba.

Great Grandchildren – Lanee Cooper, Wyatt Cooper and Kennadi Ochs.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Bernard Petitjean and a infant sister.
