Vicky Joan Yager, age 66

July 21, 1956 – May 29, 2023

Vicky Joan Yager, age 66, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 12:33 PM – Monday, May 29, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services celebrating Vicky's life will be held at 10:00 AM – Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Rev Steve Willis officiating.  Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois.  Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 PM – Monday, June, 5, 2023, at the funeral home.  In loving memory of Vicky, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Support Fund or Jasper County Boy's and Girl's Park.  The obituary can be viewed, and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.

Vicky was born on July 21, 1956, in Crawford County, Illinois, the daughter of Meredith Lee and Joy Bell (Patterson) Yager.

Vicky graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1974.  After high school she started working at the Newton Broom Factory and worked there for 35 years.  17 years ago, Vicky started her dream of owning her own business.  She built and operated the Filler-up Buffet on the south edge of town.  She was a wonderful cook and served the best fried chicken around.

Vicky enjoyed camping, woodworking, bowling and playing the bass guitar.

Several great nieces and nephews also survive.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
