Victor Adkins Kibler, age 90
Of Newton, Illinois passed away 9:10 PM-Thursday, October 30, 2014 at his home.
Private family services will be held with burial in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.
Victor was born on August 20, 1924 in Jasper County, Illinois the son of Victor Hugo Kibler and Hazel (Adkins) Kibler. He was raised on the family farm near Lis, Illinois where he worked alongside his father on the farm until joining the United States Army during WWII. He was honored with the Bronze Star Medal for his outstanding courage, aggressiveness and loyal devotion in which he and three other soldiers moved a mounted .50 cal machine gun, heavy barrage of artillery and flank gun fire to establish flank security for their organization on April 28, 1945 near Netzing, Germany.
He married Geraldine L. McKnight on June 29, 1945 in Decatur, Illinois and
she preceded him in death on February 12, 1999.
Victor graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Architecture. He practiced for many years in the Champaign Urbana area before returning to Jasper County in 1972.
Victor designed many homes, churches and building in southern Illinois.

Lynne Damko of Louisville, Kentucky
Grandchildren- Matt (Jennifer) Evans, Kristen (Peter) Davia, Lori (Will) O'Nan, Amy (Keith) Kostelac, Tanya (Roman) Underdown and Eric (Martha) Walker.
Great Grandchildren- Mac Evans, Cami Evans, Sam Davia, Deacon Davia, Charlie Davia, Jacob O'Nan, Willow Kostelac, Taylor Walker, Andrew Walker, Michael Walker and Jackie Furtado.
He was much loved by his family and will be deeply missed.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents, wife, great-grandson Jonathan Walker and a great-granddaughter Megan Elizabeth Evans.
