Warren Gene "Stoney" Birk, age 88, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 8:27 AM – Saturday, December 21, 2019, at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM – Friday, December 27, 2019, at the Grace United Methodist Church in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. In loving memory of Stoney, memorials may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church in Newton, Illinois.
Warren Gene "Stoney" Birk was born on October 21, 1931, in Newton, Illinois, the son of Everett and Gladys (Jackson) Birk. Stoney married Jill Buckey on September 25, 1992.
Stoney worked as a petroleum engineer for many years. He enjoyed quail hunting in his spare time.
Stoney was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, the Moose Lodge for 50 years, and the USGA. Stoney was involved in Pheasants Forever, Quail Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited, Meadow Golf Club, SPCA, and a Longaberger Consultant. Stoney was a sponsor of the Newton Eagles and enjoyed attending many football and basketball games. Stoney was also a GREAT Illini fan.

Daughters - Mary Jean Amity, Walton Hills, Ohio, Cindy (Steve) Miko, Wooster, Ohio, Lori (Chris) Tersigni, Wadsworth, Ohio
Grandchildren - Kristi, Aaron, Ryne, Kendall Jade, Kamryn Grace, Stephen, Michaela, David, Mike, Chelsea, Conner, Sarah, Austin, Toni Lynn, Colton, Will, Hannah, Claire, and Grace
Great-Grandchildren - Cooper, Birkley, Ben, and Scott
Sister - Verna Ochs, Mattoon, Illinois
Stoney was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Maynard Ochs.
