Bruce Stout, was born in Olney, Illinois, the son of George and Shirley Stout. He graduated from Robinson High School, and went on to attend Olney Central College and graduated from Mesa Community College with his Mortuary Science degree in 2002. He began his career in funeral service working with Mesa Heritage and Apache Junction mortuaries in Arizona while attending mortuary school. He and his wife Susan Ferrell-Stout welcome their daughter Reiley into the world in 1996, and Susan passed in 1998. Bruce and Reiley returned “home” to Richland County to be closer to family. In Olney he gained the trust of the families he served working alongside the late Randy Kistler at Summer - Kistler Funeral Homes and the late Don Thrasher at the Thrasher Family Funeral Home. In 2010, Bruce married Kimberly Fussell, after residing in Olney, for several years they moved to Florida. Bruce continued serving families at the Page-Theus Funeral Home in Leesburg and Wildwood, Florida. Kimberly passed away unexpectedly in 2020. With Reiley and her husband Jacob residing in Olney, the decision to move home was easy for Bruce. With suffering the loss of 2 wives, Bruce took a step back from funeral service and became the manager for The Holiday in Olney. During his time at The Holiday he enjoyed reconnecting with his friends in the area.

In 2021 he decided to return to his true calling as a Funeral Director. He began working with Jason and Lisa Meyer, owners of the Meyer Funeral Homes in Newton, Dieterich and Greenup, Illinois. He quickly became trusted by the families they serve because he himself has suffered so much loss. Families respect his words of “I understand” or “I have traveled the road myself”.

Bruce is currently a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in Illinois, Indiana and Florida.

Bruce is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney. He has shares his talent as a pianist along with singing at many funerals, churches and events over the years. Bruce received classical voice training by Joanne Pottorff at Olney Central Collage in the mid 80’s. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends.
